Owatonna’s parks are more than just green spaces; they're hubs of inclusive and accessible recreational activities for children of all abilities. At Manthey Park, the most spacious playground completed in 2020 boasts a rubberized surface and 12 pieces of equipment suitable for all ages and abilities. A stroll down the trail reveals outdoor music equipment, leading to the Miracle Field, a true gem for inclusive recreation.

Lake Kohlmier mirrors this commitment with another inclusive playground built in 2021. The interconnected playset provides a seamless experience for children to transition from one feature to another on sturdy platforms. Similarly, Gainey and Mineral Springs Parks have several accessible pieces, ensuring fun for everyone.

Unique features abound across Owatonna’s parks. Morehouse Park is home to a popular Clubhouse-themed playground, while Jaycee Park hosts the town's only Expression Swing, enabling parents and children to swing face-to-face. At the Fairgrounds, children can enjoy a rock wall and a sand table.

Classic playgrounds at Mineral Springs, Gainey, Brown, and Dartt’s Parks promise hours of amusement, and are set for upgrades as funding allows. Smaller neighborhood parks like Willow Park and North Bluff Park provide simple joys with swings and basic equipment.

Sid Kinyon Courts offers a different kind of play. A DNR grant refurbished a tennis court here, adding pickleball courts and a turf play area equipped with permanent bean bag boards, a ping pong table, and a bocce ball court. With a Borrow Box onsite, no personal equipment is needed, making it a convenient spot for community fun.

Owatonna ensures the safety and enjoyment of these playgrounds with monthly inspections by City staff certified by the National Recreation and Park Association. Each playground features designated areas for different age groups, ensuring age-appropriate play options for ages two through twelve.
