In a remarkable recognition of dedicated public service, Owatonna's City Administrator Kris Busse and Community Development Manager Greg Kruschke have been honored with prestigious awards by the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities (CGMC). Announced on June 3, these accolades mark significant career milestones for both Busse and Kruschke, underscoring their invaluable contributions to the community.

Kris Busse received the Bob Filson Award for Distinguished Rural Leadership, a testament to her stellar career in public service and dedication to the CGMC. This award is dedicated to retiring staff of CGMC member cities who have demonstrated unwavering commitment to the organization's mission, just like its namesake, former Worthington City Manager Bob Filson.

Also recognized is Greg Kruschke, who was awarded the Excellence in Service Award. Kruschke's strong advocacy for addressing Greater Minnesota's housing needs and his opposition to detrimental zoning and land use policies were pivotal in his selection for this honor.

Both leaders will be officially celebrated at the CGMC's annual Legislative Awards Dinner, scheduled for July 24 at the 2025 Summer Conference in Bemidji. This event will not only acknowledge their past achievements but also highlight the importance of strategic leadership within Owatonna, reflecting a larger narrative of community-driven success across Minnesota.

The accolades signify more than personal achievement; they resonate throughout the Owatonna community, inspiring local leaders and underscoring the profound impact of their work on enhancing community life and setting standards for civic engagement.
