The Public Works Department of Owatonna is all set to launch significant street and utility projects this year, making substantial improvements to the city's infrastructure. The focal points of this year's projects include major reconstruction on McKinley Street SW from Lilac Avenue to Linn Avenue, and Anderson Place SW, which extends from McKinley Street to the cul-de-sac at its end. Awarded to Wencl Construction, the projects are scheduled to begin on June 24.

In addition to the reconstruction efforts, three significant street segments will be resurfaced. These overlay projects will be completed by the dedicated crews from the Public Works Department. The streets set for paving are Autumn Drive, Wedgewood Drive, and 25th Avenue NW from Clark Drive to 18th Street NW. Moreover, the drive loop and parking lot near the pavilion in Mineral Springs Park will also see paving improvements.

Crews from the City of Owatonna's Streets Department started preliminary work on these projects by milling the surfaces on June 11. Over the past week, they’ve been adjusting cast iron fittings and performing miscellaneous repair work in preparation for the paving operations set to commence on June 24.

Residents are advised to keep their vehicles off the affected streets and opt for alternate routes when the roadwork is in progress. This cooperation is crucial for the safety of both residents and workers, ensuring a smooth rehabilitation process. As always, the schedule is subject to change based on weather conditions and other unforeseen factors. Patience and understanding from the community are greatly appreciated during these necessary improvements.

For a comprehensive view of the ongoing projects, residents can view the project map online at the city's official website.
