Spring heralds a time of renewal and activity, and in Owatonna, it also marks the beginning of an action-packed season for outdoor enthusiasts. The latest Spring/Summer Activity Guide from the Parks, Recreation & Facilities Department is packed with offerings designed to get people moving and enjoying the natural beauty of our community post-winter.

Beginning the week of February 12, residents will find the guide in their mailboxes and online, brimming with activities that promise to engage and entertain. From February 20 to 23, the registration doors swing open with extended office hours from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Families and individuals alike will find plenty to do. There's archery and kayaking for the adventure-seekers. Geocaching offers a tech-twist to exploring the great outdoors. Preschool and family camps provide shared experiences and memories in the making.

For those drawn to the water, River Springs Water Park is on the lookout for lifeguards, offering lifeguard certification to ensure safety and fun under the sun. Water aerobics classes wait to welcome participants in the warmth of their 90-degree pool, offering both an energetic workout and a community feel.

Even though the weather's warming, the ice rinks at Buecksler, Countryview, and Morehouse Park continue to invite skaters for a twirl on the ice, ensuring winter's charm lingers a bit longer. Morehouse's warming house and weekend events add to the delight.

Residents can become a part of the vibrant Parks and Recreation tapestry by stepping up as volunteer coaches or making use of scholarships. The guide to all these activities and more is just a click or a call away at 507-444-4321 or at the Parks and Recreation office at 500 Dunnell Drive.
