Owatonna Parks and Recreation Launches Indoor Swimming Programs
Owatonna Parks and Recreation introduces new indoor swimming programs such as Family Open Swim and Lifeguard Training in the city. Participants are required to register in advance for these programs, with opportunities for reimbursement for newly certified lifeguards.
Owatonna Parks and Recreation is bringing exciting new indoor swimming programs to the community, including the Family Open Swim and Lifeguard Training. Families and individuals can now enjoy the benefits of indoor swimming during the colder months while participating in fun and educational activities.
The Family Open Swim program is set to take place at two venues: the Owatonna Middle School and West Hills Pool. Parents with children 12 years and under are required to accompany them in the water. Children wearing lifejackets must be within arm's reach of a parent at all times and are restricted to the shallow end of the pool. A swim test will be administered for those wishing to enter the deep water or use diving boards at the middle school. Participants must register in advance, and no payment will be accepted at the door. Families can look forward to the upcoming dates:
- Owatonna Middle School (6:30-8:30 p.m.): November 17, December 22, January 26, February 16, March 22.
- West Hills Pool (1-3 p.m.): November 11, December 9, January 13, February 10, March 9, April 13, May 11.
For those interested in becoming a certified lifeguard, Owatonna Parks and Recreation is offering Lifeguard Training with attractive reimbursement incentives. Upon successful completion of the certification class and working for the city for at least three months, new lifeguards can receive up to $150 in reimbursements. Participants are encouraged to ask about prerequisites and class options when registering for the training.
Registration for these programs can be done online or by calling Owatonna Parks and Recreation at 507-444-4321.
