The Owatonna Eagles continue to support the community with a recent $3,500 donation to the Owatonna Youth Scholarship Assistance Fund for local sports programs. Eagles President Jim Karsten and Trustee Dan Kubista presented the donation on October 26, showcasing their commitment to helping young athletes in Owatonna. Youth sports across the city have gained substantial support through such contributions, allowing children to participate in various programs and events. The Owatonna Eagles made this donation available through their charitable gambling fund, which has allowed them to donate $118,627 to the local community over the past year.

The Youth Scholarship Assistance Fund, a 501c3 non-profit organization, provides support for young residents to participate in programs and services offered by the City of Owatonna Parks and Recreation Department and the Community Education Kids First programs. Sponsors have played a pivotal role in enabling these programs to take place, ensuring low-cost access to sports, jerseys, and equipment for participants. Their contributions have allowed businesses to gain positive exposure while fostering healthy lifestyles and team spirit among young athletes.

Owatonna Parks and Recreation Department also recognizes the importance of volunteer coaches, who commit over 3,500 hours of their time to managing practices, scrimmages, and games. Parents of participating athletes are encouraged to consider coaching, making a meaningful difference in their child's life and the lives of other young athletes in the Owatonna community.

As the youth basketball season nears and plans for soccer next spring get underway, community members are invited to partake in volunteer coaching opportunities and make a significant impact in supporting local athletes. For information about how youth can apply for Youth Scholarship Assistance fund, coaching opportunities, or to donate, contact the Owatonna Parks and Recreation office at 507-444-4321.
