Active Aging: Fitness and Socializing at West Hills
Discover how Owatonna's seniors are embracing fitness and fellowship through the West Hills Social Commons programs.

Owatonna's senior community is finding a vibrant mix of health and social interaction at West Hills Social Commons. With a range of activities tailored to elder residents, the center is a shining example of active aging.
Strength Training: Seniors gather every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 to 10 a.m. for strength training sessions. The focus is on using resistance bands and light weights to improve strength, flexibility, and balance.
Table Tennis: Every Wednesday from 12:30 to 2 p.m., seniors can enjoy table tennis. The game provides an excellent way to stay active while indulging in some friendly competition.
Yoga: On Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., seniors are welcomed to gentle yoga classes aimed at maintaining flexibility and stability.
Coffee Conversations: Scheduled gatherings, such as those on May 22 and July 12, provide an opportunity for seniors to meet with city staff over coffee and discuss community affairs from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
These initiatives are backed by the city and symbolize Owatonna's commitment to nurturing the health and engagement of its senior population.
